i am a designer first but due to the current economical state i like to call "poo" i was forced to look elsewhere for work- and found it at sephora. i've been in customer service before but this is one job i actually L.O.V.E. because (1) there's makeup everywhere, (2) i get to put that makeup on myself and others, (3) there are so many ways i still get to be creative, and (4) the music. i love the playlist we have ( i think we use muzak) and this week i set forth on a personal mission to find out what songs we play and create my very own sephora playlist on my ipod.
here are some of the songs i was able to find:
magnificent- u2
boys with girlfriends- meiko
gorgeous- girl next door
epiphany- chrisette michele
give it to me- madonna
that's not my name- the ting tings
again + again- the bird and the bee
up- the saturdays
fidelity- regina spektor
talk of the town- pretenders
raw sugar- metric
you, me + the bourgeoisie- the submarines
love etc.- pet shop boys
jetstream- new order
runaway- ladytron
tristesse joie- yelle
what am i gonna do- the saturdays
come as you were- the bird and the bee
fancy footwork- chromeo
relax, take it easy- mika
rise + shine- the cardigans
trouble- bitter:sweet
major tom- shiny toy guns
i should just subscribe to that music id service on my cell phone. this would be a lot easier....

a world of good... and cuteness
oh how i mclove this little site, here: world of good (by ebay) has some really awesome products that are mother nature approved. lucky for you, i have decided to share with you some of my favorites thus far.
rafia opal clutch { mad imports nyc }
imagination { novica }
secret leaves { novica }
recycled fabric tote { original good store }
embroidered dzitnup necklace { project dzitnup }
flower bud ring { global exchange store }
beau soleil bag ( nubius organics }

a break from hibernation
it's been a while.. but life is crazy like that. been busier than ever since i was able to score a full time job- even better, i happen to L.O.V.E. it. sadly, the 9-to-5 has taken its toll on my bedroom reno. i had finally found the world's most adorable vintage bedframe on craigslist for a reasonable $50 and that set the decorating shenanigans into motion. but at this moment i am in HGTV purgatory. old pieces are stuck in there because i haven't found suitable replacements; my closet must have swine flu because it keeps throwing up on my floor; and then there's this problem of me needing time to fix the issue and not being able to find enough to do it.
blah.
i shall post pics when i feel my room is worthy of this wee little blog.

preggers
just got back from my friend k's baby shower- she's so adorable preggers! one of those women who only inflate around the belly region. i pray that i will be one of the lucky ones, as well. it was in a spacious room at a lovely residential care center in milford. the room was equipped with sunshine, an aviary and great food- all in all, a very successful baby shower. my camera tagged along for the event and i tried my best to document the unwrapping of presents but was often distracted by the eternally squeeze-able cheeks of little ava ( my friend a's daughter). you'll understand...

i heart beehive

coming from me, it's the only time you'll hear the words "love" and "beehive" in the same sentence. beehive co-op has opened a new location here in cincinnati and our jewelry is being featured in their adorably decorated temporary street-front shop. i stopped in the other day to check up on our goods and was told that they have almost sold out of our earrings and would like replenishments. it's been a really cool experience and i'm glad we took a chance with this company- they're wonderful people. if you live near cincinnati, make sure you check beehive co-op out and support local artists... they make some amazing stuff. if not, there's other locations in new york and atlanta.
a few items chosen to be featured in the local beehive shop:
these boots are made for lovin'
i cannot believe my eyes at the selection of shoes available at piperlime- it's insanely marvelous. if only my closet were slightly bigger, then i could stuff a pair of these gorgeous boots in there somewhere. i think i'll get an early start on my 09 christmas list...

eureka.
vintamodfrenchmexinavian.
finally, i've found a word that perfectly describes my tastes to a tee. for years i've just considered myself a style mutt. like i've said before, i'm glad to be someone who is open and influenced by so many different cultures but oh mylanta i'd like a kit kat break from all the stimulation, please.
i still live at home- i'm frugal, what can i say- and so i am designated a smallish-to-medium size room to decorate as i please. keep in mind i have a king size bed, computer desk, and dresser crammed in here so there isn't much surface space to set my knick knacks 'n such upon without it looking like a junked-up thrift shop. my dilemma though is a good one, i guess, so i'll stop the whining. too many cute things out there in the world and zero places for them to live in my four-walled fantasy land.
but i keep on finding and so i keep on buying... just saving them for a rainy day when i grow up and get a house of my very own.
